The DCRAG Lower Area Master Plan
The Master Plan below is the original concept plan for the area.
The individual section of the plan will be review as each section detailed design work is done over time
In November 2018 the Darlington Community Recreation Advisory Group subcommittee presented the Darlington Skate Park Community Masterplan proposal to the Shire of Mundaring (SOM). The Community Masterplan was created with a vision toward future development and drew upon the input of the Darlington community through a year-long consultative process. The proposed plan takes in the area to the west side of the Darlington Oval and Community Pavilion, and includes the skate park, the existing dirt jumps and some poor quality bushland.

The SOM approved the Masterplan at budget deliberations of June 2019 and also supported a Darlington Sports and Recreation Association Incorporated (DaSRA) community build.

The funding for the project was achieved through grant opportunities which had become available via election commitments from Mr Matthew Hughes MP (State Labor) and The Hon. Ken Wyatt AM, MP (Federal Liberal) in 2019.

The State Grant of $25,000, from 2017, was initially earmarked for the repair of the existing, largely unused dirt jumps. However, lobbying of the SOM Council, by skate park users enabled the State funds to be transferred to the upgrade of the skate park with a half pipe which will benefit all wheeled sport users including skaters, bikers and scooters.

Federal financial support was obtained after DaSRA successfully applied for a Commonwealth Department of Health Grant in December 2019 obtaining $340,000 to complete some of the sections of the Master Plan.

DaSRA has been tasked to complet some of the section of the master plan include;
-
The skate park half pipe extension and additional skills challenges on the east side.
-
A small pump track to cater for bikes, skaters and scooters
-
A Grand Arbour running east/west and flanked on the north and south sides by a community garden.
-
Development of a plan for regenerated woodland boardwalk trail and adventure play area

Thanks Gerry Healy for his enormous voluntary contribution to collating this Community Masterplan, as well as members of the DCRAG subcommittee, the SOM officers, Matthew Hughes, Ken Wyatt, SOM Councillors
