The Darlington Film Project

DaSRA in association with the Darlington History Group are producing a Film about Darlington and its "special" community.

The draft title is currently

"Darlington - Conversations about the Importance of Community".

We are now seeking old footage [6mm, VHS, Mini-DV Tape, DVD or other] of Darlington activities, events and community gatherings and if you do please talk with Geoff Barker about accessing such material, for use in the film, in exchange DaSRA will digitising the footage and returning it to the owner.

Thank you to the key Grant Supporters:

Lotterywest $45,000

Bendigo Bank $5,000

Shire of Mundaring $3,000

Darlington Review $2,000

DaSRA $2,000

All of this means that the proposed Darlington Film is now full steam ahead.

FILM BACKGROUND

A community, and people being an active part of it, has been noted as offering its members a sense of wellbeing, security, belonging and a healthy mental state; so valued these days.

The objective of making a Film is to portray people’s stories to demonstrate that being involved in your community accrues many benefits to the broader community but also to the individual.

The strategy, to achieve this objective, being to interview a range of long term residents, as well as others who may have only recently moved to the locality, about their perceptions, experiences and views of their community and being involved and the benefits they see as being invaluable and unique to them as well as the broader community.

The vision is that this film will not only be relevant to the residents of Darlington but have wider interest as a film exploring the benefits of Community and Being Involved to people’s “Wellbeing” and mental health.
